Solarpunk Cyborgs against Cyberpunk’s Pessimism

This article explores the ways in which some female-authored solarpunk stories employ cyborg models developed by feminist cyberpunk fiction order to continue with its traditional role of liberating/liberated ontological subject. The text contemporary critical readings and analyzes Lauren Beukes’ Moxyland (2008), Camille Meyers’ “Solar Child” (2017), Brenda Cooper’s “For Snake Power” (2018) way embodied disembodied female subjectivities are represented. argues that although has abandoned classic idea subversion cyberspace, techno-human alliances instigated it have remained, either developing physical cyborgs liberated from biological limitations materiality, as story, or representing STEM-experienced women who cooperate AIs fight against capitalism’s material structures power.
